I read through your chapter to chapter debunking of the novel. When I read the section on the holy grail, you stated that sang real would be la sang royale in French. I disagree. From what I understand, the dipthong oi/oy in French outside of Paris would be spelt and pronounced e cf. Montreal (i.e. Mont Royal in contemporary French)
So isn't it possible that in Old French the word for royal would be real derived from Latin REGALIS.
